Off-putting starkness
of chattering objects
in high contrast
like giant tree slices
of self-conscious modesty
within earshot of a forest
Few and far in-between
the gesture and geometry
of the long-lost often overlooked
as either industrious or lucky
like flingers of zingy lines
outshined by a gaudy good time
In a long song and dance
all about a cappella as full potential
when collectively stepped
above all the rest with the exception
of a wrenchingly placid set
After a crash landing with a con man
in a failing cast opening last
with spent passion and avarice...
