wanting to whip it up
as a hankering
for a masterpiece
of ingenuity
emerging bubbling
At a takeout window
after midnight
with an earthy aroma
and fruity flavor
on a cheese tray
with meringue
Now the main
meaty flavors placed
on a plate in an array
of basking layers
of marinade
Turning occasionally
charred in places
then crumbled with bacon
minus the wait
Winsomely bitter in the tradition
of citrus-tinged suspicion
somewhere in the middle
Denser and more tannic
but attractive aged in new barrels
found on the common ground
of awakened palates
balanced with the silky
lush flavors of flowers...
